Nederlands Film Festival

The 42nd Netherlands Film Festival was concluded on September 30, 2022. According to tradition, the film festival presented many premieres and all the most interesting works that had been filmed in the previous 12 months. The best achievements of the Dutch filmmakers in 32 categories were honored with the Golden Calves awards.

We congratulate all the winners, with a special shoutout to our friends at Smarthouse Films for winning the Best Short category.

In the categories Best Film, Best Design and Best Director, Mascha Halberstad won with the warm, family-friendly animated movie "Knor". This is a story about an extraordinary present from an American grandfather and the difficulties of a little pig named Knor staying with his new family.

The Audience Award went to the comedy "Bon Bini Holland 3" with old favorite characters ready for more hilarious new adventures.

Winner Best Actress: Tekla Roiten for drama "Narcosis". The same film won in the category Best Costume Design.

Winner Best Actor: Tobias Kersloot for drama "Do Not Hesitate". The same movie won a Golden Calf award for Best Editing and Best Screenplay.

Evelyn van der Molen won in the category Best Sound Design for the action-adventure movie "Captain Nova", which, by the way, is already out on the Netflix streaming service.

In the Flow of Words (directed by Eliane Esther Botes) won the Best Short Documentary

La Última Ascensión (script: Kevin Ocepa, Production: Smarthouse) won Best Short Film.

This year the jury of the Netherlands Film Festival noted that they had a challenging task to choose the best of such decent candidates. But the winners have been announced, the speeches have been made, the prizes have been handed out as we look forward to next year’s event.
